Keeping up with social media, sponsored search & SEO...
It is a job in itself to simply keep up daily with the changes that go on with Search Engine Optimization, Social Media, Internet Marketing and related topics. It can be a time killer on the one hand, but on the other, I am a total geek and 'Knowledge is King' so I enjoy the constant learning curve.
In case you are interested in doing some of your own SEO work on your website or you are interested in what's behind the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) - why some companies rank where they do, etc. then I've compiled a list of the resources I use. Over the last eight years, these are the references that I have found to be the most consistent and useful to me and to my clients.
Top 10 Resources
www.clickz.com - SEO newsletter with great information on mobile and local search
www.searchenginenews.com - paid annual subscription is very worth it for their in-depth monthly publication. their frequently emailed 'Search Day' publication and eBook 'The UnFair Advantage Book on Winning the SEO Wars'
www.enquiro.com - Internet Marketing resources
Web Position Gold - how I create all my keyword ranking reports
www.googleanalytics.com - get valuable tracking data in easy to understand reports from Google
www.hitslink.com - paid website traffic usage data; I have used them for almost 9 years and wouldn't be able give my clients the level of detail they require without the service
www.seochat.com/seo-tools and www.rankquest.com/seo-tools.html both have excellent suites of free SEO tools
freekeywords.wordtracker.com and www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html are valuable for doing keyword research
I love using www.nichewatch.com because it gives me a comparison summary on one page that my clients get
www.industrialsearchenginemarketing.com has an informative blog geared specifically for industrial clients
I know I'm already over my 10 limit, but a little program I really like is called www.notefish.com - I've used it for years
a free Google account is super beneficial
Google's range of freebies on the web is impressive and I use all of these regularly: www.blogger.com (create and host blogs), www.picasa.com (share and store photos), www.gmail.com (webmail), www.google.com/local (local business center), www.google.com/calendar (online calendar you can share), www.google.com/maps (directions), docs.google.com document creation and sharing suite, www.google.com/alerts (useful alerts on topics you wish to monitor), www.google.com/insights/search/# (research on regional searches), www.google.com/webmasters/tools/dashboard (dashboard for webmasters) and more.
But now I have to go catch up on my SEO reading!
