Teaching is rewarding but certainly not easy...
Fernando will give you insight here when he's got a bit more time. Don't hold your breath, he's a busy guy. Mr. Ayala spent the 2008-2009 school year at John Muir School in the Santa Monica-Malibu School District.

Update! Update! Update!
Fernando is very excited about where he'll be teaching for the 2009-2010
school year! He'll be teaching 4th grade at Ocean Charter
School. This charter school follows the "Waldorf Method" of teaching seems
to take a very nurturing - and perhaps more natural - approach the child's'
growth. I know that sounds vague, but I don't know much about it.
Fernando spent the first week in July in training sessions with about 20 (?) other teachers in the Colorado area. Besides covering what you and I would call the basics, he also was introduced to less-conventional things such as playing the recorder and the guitar. This should be a really GREAT year for him.
