My rating: 2 of 5 stars
I usually love Elizabeth Lowell; I would read anything she wrote. However, this one was not up to par with her others.
The good parts were great; I loved Hunter and his buddy Jase. Although they and their histories were not explained in enough depth to understand their actions. And Lena was special too.
I feel educated every time I read Lowell's books too. Specifically about precious metals, gems, plein art and the like. I'd recommend reading Die In Plain Sight, Pearl Cove, Innocent As Sin, Midnight in Ruby Bayou and Blue Smoke and Murder if you, too, are interested in the in-depth research that Lowell must immerse herself in. It is excellent!
But this one just didn't work for me. Sure, lots of education. Steamy scenes too. But in the long run just way too far-fetched for me.
Still, it got me through another week at the gym! And I just started Beautiful Dreamer and I'll let you know how that goes!
