What an uplifting book! Walter and his dog, Lance, will make you laugh and cry as they struggle to learn a new life that will work for the two of them. Both do not exactly welcome change, but Walter commits to Lance and just in time. The way Lance was kicked aside, he probably didn't have much time left. But Walter gives everything he has - and then some - to the troubled canine.
Read the book if you love any part of rescue dogs, pets or the friendship that can develop between a pet and the owner. You will laugh and cry! There are so many highs and lows but in the end, it's the companionship that stays with you.
Walter Stoffel is a substance abuse counselor and GED teacher in correctional facilities. When not behind bars, he likes to read, travel, work out and watch bad movies. Major accomplishment: He entered a 26.2 mile marathon following hip replacement surgery and finished—dead last.
The author currently lives with his wife Clara, their dog, Buddy (another rescue), and cat, Winky (yet another rescue).
