This book was chosen by my Crisis Text Line book club and I'd never heard of the author prior.
At first, I was intrigued and thought this author may be amazing. She basically created a neighborhood that is like no-other. But then as I got further, I was disappointed by the "spreadsheet" concept and felt this was way too far fetched.
But still, I felt compelled as the author was possibly writing the main character's view as a crazy person that doesn't know she's crazy. Then I think that was really giving too much credit.
I guess I got tired of the main character's thinking going back and forth and back and forth. She keeps telling us what she should do, then does different over and over. And over. Then when she goes back to a group, and specifically to a night out at a bar AGAIN, after the most heinous things had happened, well, no way.
Lastly, the coincidences are just so contrived. I sighed and closed the book and felt a bit like I'd wasted some time. Nevertheless, I will look for another novel by Ellie Monago...if this is a first go, then bravo! I'm betting follow-ups will be much stronger.
Unfortunately, there is no information on this author on Goodreads.com. I'll have to dig a bit deeper and will update this post if I find something interesting!
