Okay, this is not my favorite Turow book (and most of them ARE). I believe the location of the novel, Bosnia, is the beginning of my opinion. I think Turow's best work is done "at home". However, if you are inclined, the book grows stronger as the excitement grows. The first half of the book I'd give a 2, the second half a 4! I don't dig the predictability of the romance and how bored I was with it. But if you like an international sort-of-intrigue novel, Turow hits it on the head for you in this one.
