I don't know whether I am bothered more by the negative circumstances that abound here or by the far too detailed descriptions of the gypsy moths. Yuck. The tone is dark and the characters really are too. But I did enjoy the different characters' views in the chapters.
I wanted something to finally shine through the racism, sex, pollution, moths, and more. But that was not the intention obviously.
I rate this book a 3.5. The writing is actually so good. It's just the topic that I did not enjoy. I look forward to the next book by Julia Fierro.
